    The Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu, Soka Bunka (Culture) Center, Soka Treasure Light Reception Center, Shinano Peace Center, Soka Visitor’s Center, Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu Front Courtyard, World Seikyo Center (Exhibition Hall, Library and Reference Room) and Min-On Culture Center.     You can find when a facility is open or closed by scrolling down to “Today’s Operating Hours” on this site’s Top Page. Or you can click on “Facilities” in the Menu bar at the top of the Top Page, scroll down to the facility you want to visit and click on it to see its opening hours.     Are there certain days when a facility is closed?

    Answer

    Yes. Please scroll down to the “Calendar” near the bottom of this site’s Top Page. Or you can click on “Facilities” in the Menu bar at the top of the Top Page, scroll down to the facility you are looking for and click on it to see if it is closed on the day of your visit.

    Can I take still photographs and/or video footage inside a Complex facility?

    Answer

    The taking of still photographs is only permitted at the following designated locations: Soka Bunka (Culture) Center 1F/2F and Soka Visitor’s Center 2F-4F. Video photography is not permitted at any facility, with the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu Front Courtyard being the only area at which still and video photographs are allowed. Please note that a commemorative photography area has been established on the 2F of the Soka Bunka (Culture) Center.

    When are the gongyo sessions held at the Shinano Peace Center?

    Answer

    The sessions are held four times a day, at 11:00, 12:30, 15:00 and 17:00.
    However, the number of sessions and their times are subject to change, depending on attendance and the holding of commemorative events.

    Can I wait in front of a facility that I want to visit before it opens?

    Answer

    Unfortunately, loitering is not permitted. We strongly suggest that you ascertain the opening hours of a facility you want to visit in advance and time it accordingly.

    At what age does a person need an admission ticket to take part in the gongyo session held at the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu?

    Answer

    For members (Japanese and foreign) belonging to the organization in Japan, every child in elementary school or older must request an admission ticket through his or her local Japanese organization. Every SGI member must have an admission ticket.

    Where can I get an admission ticket?

    Answer

    For members (Japanese and foreign) belonging to the organization in Japan, admission tickets to the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu are distributed by the local Japanese organization.

    For members belonging to organizations outside of Japan (SGI members), the following terms must be met in order to participate in the gongyo session at the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu:
    ・Please bring the original Letter of Introduction issued by the SGI organization in your country or territory. Every participant must submit an individual Letter of Introduction.
    ・Please attend the orientation at the SGI Headquarters on the day you wish to participate in the gongyo session in order to receive your admission ticket. (Reservations cannot be made in advance).

    Can I get another ticket if I were to miss the time and date of the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu gongyo session as stipulated on the admission ticket originally assigned to me?

    Replacement tickets will NOT be issued.

    Answer

    Reentering the Hall is NOT permitted.

Transportation and Access

    What is the nearest railway station to the Headquarters Complex?

    Answer

    The nearest, most convenient train station is Shinanomachi Station on the JR Sobu Line (3-minute walk to the Complex). You can also use the Toei Oedo Subway Line and get off at Kokuritsu-Kyogijo Station, using the A1 Exit (7-minute walk). The third option is the Marunouchi Subway Line, getting off at Yotsuya Sanchome Station, using Exit #3 (12-minute walk).

    If you are taking part in the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu gongyo session, however, please click on the link below for the relevant steps to take in advance. Should this be the case, please get off at Yotsuya Sanchome Station on the Marunouchi Subway Line.

    If I visit by car, is parking available?

    While the Complex does not provide for parking, there are a number of pay-to-use public parking facilities in the area.

    Yes, the closest taxi stand is at the JR Shinanomachi Station.

    If I come by bicycle, can I park it at the Complex grounds?

    Answer

    While the Complex lacks bicycle park facilities, pay-to-use public facilities are available.

    Soka Visitor’s Center 2F-4F and Shinano Peace Center 1F Lounge have rest areas at which visitors can eat and drink.

    Visitors can purchase light snacks at vending machines installed at the Soka Visitor’s Center 2F-4F.

    A wheelchair is available free of charge at every Complex facility.

    Can I use the wheelchair outside the Complex facility that I borrow it from?

    Our wheelchairs are strictly for use at the Complex facility from which it is borrowed.

    Yes, a service animal is allowed when accompanied by its owner.

    Baby carriages are provided free of charge at the Soka Visitor’s Center, Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu, Soka Bunka (Culture) Center, Soka Treasure Light Reception Center and Shinano Peace Center.

    Are there rest areas that I can use with my children?

    A "Kids Room" is available at the Soka Bunka (Culture) Center 2F. Tables with children's seats are also provided at the Soka Visitor’s Center 2F-3F.

    Such areas have been established at the Soka Visitor’s Center, Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu, Soka Bunka (Culture) Center, Soka Treasure Light Reception Center, Shinano Peace Center and World Seikyo Center.     Do they have heated water to make powdered milk?

    Answer

    Hot/cold water/tea dispensers are installed at every facility. In addition, special units dispensing hot water (80 degrees Centigrade/176 degrees Fahrenheit) to reconstitute powdered milk are provided at the Soka Bunka (Culture) Center 2F "Kids Room," Soka Visitor’s Center 3F, Soka Treasure Light Reception Center 1F and World Seikyo Center 1F Library and Reference Room.

    Where can I recharge my batteries for my camera, video camera and/or cellphone?

    Answer

    Recharge areas are available at the Soka Visitor’s Center 2F-3F. You can also recharge your cell- and smartphones (Android and iOS) at the nearby Kongodo 2F free of charge.

    Unfortunately, the Complex does not offer Wi-Fi service.

    Is there a public telephone on the premises?

    You can find a public telephone on the 1F of the Soka Bunka (Culture) Center, 1F of the Shinano Peace Center and 1F of the Soka Treasure Light Reception Center. If you are unsure, please ask the nearest staff member for assistance.

    Regrettably, no. Facsimile machines are not available.

    We do not. But such lockers are publicly available at JR Shinanomachi Station.

    Smoking is prohibited throughout the Complex. While there is a smoking area next to JR Shinanomachi Station, a Shinjuku Ward ordinance bars public smoking.

    Where can I buy a copy of the Seikyo Shimbun newspaper?

    The Seikyo Shimbun is sold only by subscription. Visitors can read the newspaper at the Soka Visitor’s Center and Shinano Peace Center.

・Only Soka Gakkai (SGI) members and authorized personnel can be admitted into a Complex facility. The only exception is the Min-On Culture Center.
・Also, a facility may open or close without regard to normal operating hours due to commemorative events or inclement weather.
